Re-Ignite started with questions. Questions that took root when I taught high school math, and ones that brought me to graduate school.
How can we help teachers stay energized and engaged in their careers?
How is the issue of attrition different for teachers of color?
How do we engage teachers in conversations that matter to them without adding more to their plates?
In partnering with teachers from across the US, particularly BIPOC educators (teachers who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), I learned about the power of informal spaces and communities of practice. Teachers are already talking. When they connect they grow. So, let's scaffold, encourage, and recognize the power of these conversations!
